Video Consultations for Breastfeeding
Breastfeeding doesn't always come naturally and can be very challenging in the early weeks. An trained and experienced lactation consultant can help you overcome these struggles and guide you on the road to reaching your breastfeeding goals. Online video consultations are available for families who due to any reason are not able to come for In-person consults.
An ONLINE / Video lactation consultation allows you to consult with a lactation consultant IBCLC*/ Infant and Young Child Feeding Specialist in real-time.
You can connect with Dr Shacchee Baweja who is a certified lactation consultant IBCLC and IYCF specialist, via a private, secure video connection powered by agora.io from your mobile phone through the DOCON Patient app available at this link- https://bit.ly/2wsfHdI Soon this would be possible through Desktops or Laptops also.
You will need to book an appointment through the DOCON Patient App after which you would get a confirmation SMS and A link to submit your details and consent form. The information provided by you would be kept totally confidential with doctor only and Video transmissions are encrypted through agora.io which is a HIPAA compliant US based organisation, approved for video consults by healthcare people.
The usual Video session is of 45 minutes duration after which, the summary and care plan and instructions by Dr Shacchee Baweja will be available in your DOCON app or would be sent on your E Mail as desired by the doctor.

How much time does an online session take?
A Usual sessions is of 45 minutes duration, based on your issues you might need longer / multiple sessions. The duration and frequency of follow up sessions is decided during the first session.
How much does it cost?
Each session of 45 mins online consult costs 1000 INR. Payment options include PayTM or UPI at present. More options would be added in future.
Is cancellation possible after a payment is made?
Yes, It can be cancelled from your DOCON App approximately an hour before consult. After this only Doctor can initiate a cancellation and refund. But please be sensitive enough and avoid last minute cancellations , as it prevents any other Mother in Need to take help as Appointment slots are limited and a slot booked and cancelled by you gets wasted.
What to do after making a payment and booking a Video Consult?
After you book your Video Consult, you will get a SMS from DOCON and be directed towards a page which has IMPORTANT Instructions and terms. Read them, and submit that form well before the appointment time, in order to optimize your time with the lactation consultant.
What all I Need to prepare myself before a Video consultation?
To help you best, I will need to assess a breastfeed, so please do not feed your baby fully near your appointment time
Ensure availability of a good internet connection
Ensure appropriate lighting and good location for your camera so that the lactation consultant can assess you and your baby
Keep someone with you, who can hold your phone/camera steady for you, while the LC is assessing the breastfeeding
Have the following items gathered before the appointment time starts near the area you will be using for your video consult. You may not need to use all of these. However, this will spare valuable time if needed.: Clean Diapers, Extra Blankets, Pillow/Nursing Pillow, Breast-pump or Any other equipment, if you are using.

What all is done during a Video Lactation Consultation?
The Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) does the following during a video consult
Reviews mother and baby health history including birth and breastfeeding experience.
Evaluates baby’s feeding by actually seeing you feeding your baby
Provides a personalized written care plan (sent via email)
Decides for a follow-up consult to evaluate progress
May suggest an In-person Consult if the challenges you are facing require a more detailed assessment.
Will I need to pay separately for an In-person Consultation?
Yes, each session whether it’s a follow up Video Consult or an In-Person consult is charged separately.
